How to Set Up IPTV on a MAG Box
No apps, no app store — MAG boxes work completely differently. Here's the portal URL and MAC address method, properly explained.
Short answer: MAG boxes don't use apps. You send us your box's MAC address, we register it on our server, then you enter the portal URL we give you under Settings → System Settings → Servers → Portals and reboot. Ten minutes, including the wait for us to register you.
MAG boxes aren't like anything else
On a Firestick or Android box you install an app and type in a username and password. A MAG box has neither. Instead, your subscription is bound to the physical box itself via its MAC address, which we register at our end. That means you have to send us your MAC address before anything will work — you can't just buy a plan and set it up yourself at 2am. If the portal won't load, an unregistered MAC is the reason nine times out of ten.
Setting up your MAG box
Follow in order — step 2 gates everything after it.
Find your MAC address
On the box, go to Settings → System Settings → About. You'll see a MAC address like 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. It's also printed on a sticker on the underside of the box.
Send it to us — this bit is essential
Message us your MAC address on WhatsApp. We register it against your subscription on our server. Nothing will work until this is done, so don't skip ahead and then wonder why the portal's blank. It usually takes us a few minutes.
Enter the portal URL
Go to Settings → System Settings → Servers → Portals. In Portal 1 Name type anything you like (e.g. IPTVUKStream). In Portal 1 URL, enter the portal address exactly as we send it. Leave Portal 2 empty.
Save and reboot the portal
Press OK to save, then go to Settings → System Settings → Restart Portal (or just pull the power for ten seconds). The box will reload and your channels will appear.

Which MAG boxes work
All the common ones. The main difference is 4K support.
The old classics. Rock solid for HD, but no 4K. Plenty of these still going strong in UK living rooms — if yours works, there's no urgent reason to replace it.
The middle generation. Faster than the 250 series, still HD-focused. A good all-rounder if you're not fussed about 4K.
The current lot, with proper 4K support. If you're buying a MAG box today and you want Sky Sports in 4K, it needs to be one of these.
MAG boxes are reliable, purpose-built and beloved by people who've used them for years — no bloat, no faff, just telly. But if you're starting from scratch in 2026, a Firestick is cheaper, easier to set up yourself, and doesn't need us to register anything. MAG box problems, solved
"Portal not found" or a blank screen
Either your MAC isn't registered, or there's a typo in the URL.
First: did you actually send us your MAC address and get confirmation back? If not, that's it — nothing loads until we register you. If you did, check the portal URL character by character against our message. A single missing character or a stray trailing slash gives you exactly this screen.
It worked, then suddenly stopped
Usually expiry, or the portal address moved.
Check whether your subscription has run out. If it hasn't, we may have moved servers — message us and we'll give you the current portal URL. Re-enter it and reboot the portal.
Buffering or freezing
MAG boxes really want a cable.
Plug the box into your router with an Ethernet cable — MAG's built-in Wi-Fi (where it exists at all) is the weakest link on these boxes by a mile. If you must use Wi-Fi, a MAG Wi-Fi dongle on 5 GHz is better than nothing. Also check you're not asking a MAG 254 to do 4K, because it can't.
The box won't load past the boot logo
Try a portal reset.
Power off for ten seconds, then power on and immediately go into Settings → System Settings → Restart Portal. If it's still stuck, the box may need a firmware reflash — message us and we'll point you at the right steps for your model.
I changed my router and now it doesn't work
Check whether the MAC changed.
The box's MAC shouldn't change with a new router — but if you switched from Ethernet to a Wi-Fi dongle (or vice versa), the box may now be presenting a different MAC. Check Settings → System Settings → About and send us the current one so we can update your registration.
