A device
Anything from the list above. If you're buying fresh, a Firestick is the cheapest sensible option in the UK — less than a month of Sky Sports, and it's yours.
A decent connection
10 Mbps for HD, 25 for Full HD, 50 for 4K. Stability matters as much as speed — a wired Ethernet cable beats Wi-Fi every time, and 5 GHz Wi-Fi beats 2.4 GHz. Most UK fibre is comfortably enough.

Xtream Codes vs M3U — what's the difference?
You'll see both terms everywhere. Here's what they actually mean.
Both do the same fundamental job: they connect your app to your subscription. The difference is the format.
Three separate fields: username, password and server URL. Gives you a proper TV guide, a separate VOD section and better channel organisation. Pick this whenever the app offers it.
One long link containing everything. Simpler, and works in almost any player — but the TV guide and VOD are usually less tidy. Handy when an app doesn't support Xtream.
The same thing as a downloadable file rather than a link. Rare these days. You save it to the device and load it from within the app.
We send you both. Use Xtream Codes on apps that support it, and keep the M3U link in your back pocket for anything that doesn't. Same subscription either way — you're not locked into one.
What speed do you actually need?
10 Mbps
Fine for standard HD channels. Almost any UK broadband manages this.
25 Mbps
Full HD 1080p — the sweet spot for most people, and what most sport looks great at.
50 Mbps
Proper 4K Ultra HD. Needs fibre and, ideally, a wired connection.
A rock-steady 30 Mbps beats a spiky 200 Mbps every time. If you're buffering despite a fast connection, it's almost always the last few metres: weak Wi-Fi to the telly. An Ethernet cable is the single most effective fix in IPTV, and it costs a fiver. Failing that, get on 5 GHz.

Problems that apply to every device
Device-specific fixes live on each guide — these are the ones that catch everyone.
Buffering
Connection, nine times out of ten.
Ethernet if you can, 5 GHz Wi-Fi if you can't. Close other devices hogging bandwidth. Then clear the app's cache. If it's only buffering at peak times (weekday evenings, big matches), that's your broadband contending, not us — a wired connection helps most there too.
"Invalid credentials"
Typos, or expiry.
Check username, password and server URL character by character — capital letters and stray spaces are the usual culprits, and phone keyboards love to autocapitalise. If they're definitely right, your subscription may simply have ended. Message us and we'll check in a minute.
Black screen on one channel
If the others work, it's that channel.
Try switching the player to VLC or MX Player in the app settings. If only one channel misbehaves and the rest are fine, it's not your setup — tell us which one and we'll look at it.
Everything was fine, now nothing works
Expiry or a server move.
Check your subscription dates first. If it's still active, we may have shifted servers — message us for current details.
It works on my phone but not my TV
That rules us out and points at the TV's network.
Useful diagnostic, that one: if the same login works on 4G on your phone, the service and your details are fine. The problem is the TV's connection or the TV itself. Ethernet, or a Firestick.
